This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Middle School PE and I would like to teach a unit on basketball. Our facilities are limited but we do have access to a gym across the street from our school that a local youth center lets us use for PE. M 6th, 7th and 8th graders have asked me to teach them basketball for while and we have zero basketball. We are new charter school with awesome kids and I would like to provide them the opportunity to learn basketball.
Again, our small charter school is only in its 2nd year and we have close to zero equipment for PE. Instead of playing elementary schools game; I would like to teach them the skills and fundamentals of some real fun and competitive sports. We have access to a gym and having basketballs would provide me with opportunity to team them fitness while learning a great game.
15 basketballs would be perfect for my class. I know it only takes 1 to play but I would like to have enough to set up drills and other basketball related events for middle school PE class.
I love my students and I want to provide them with the opportunities that I had in Junior High. The sports and skills I learned made me a better person and I would like to teach my students basketball. Basketball teaches coordination, fitness, teamwork and sportsmanship and these are valuable skills for all areas of life, health and school. You would make it possible for my students to gain access to an opportunities other schools have and we do not. Thank You
