I currently teach 7th grade science at a high need, low income school in Hawaii. I have many students with special needs as well as many students who are just learning English.
In this era or technology, it is extremely challenging to teach students scientific concepts without a means of displaying visuals. One small chalkboard is not sufficient for the lessons I am teaching.
Having a projector would enable me to improve my instruction greatly with the ability to visually display the information I am trying to teach my students. Furthermore, it is hard for students with learning disabilities to read words on a chalkboard. A projector would allow these students not only to be able to read typed words but to watch videos related to their learning experience as well as present their created work to their classmates. Nearly every classroom in America has a projector and in today's high technology era, projectors are considered a necessity not a luxury.
You have the power to improve my students learning experience. You will enable them to visually learn integral scientific concepts in a more engaging and instructive manner. On a broader level, you have the opportunity to level the playing field of educational inequity by donating to a school in a high need community.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
