I teach Spanish and coach at a wonderful urban high school. I am truly fortunate to love my job. I look forward to going to work each and every day, well, almost. The students also look forward to going to school and aspire to go on to college and help their families lead more comfortable lives. However, our resources are somewhat limited.
The students do not have access to technology at home. They depend on the school for Internet, computers and printers and yet every classroom does not have these machines. I was fortunate enough to have a printer donated. It is state of the art, but it needs toner. My students come to me for help in all areas. I am required to help all of my athletes on the 3 teams that I coach with their homework, college readiness and college applications. This is a part of my job that thrills me. Remember getting ready for college? It is so exciting! I need a quality printer to help them with their letters of recommendation, applications, personal statements, scholarships etc. Not to mention that they need to use the printer for daily class assignments, and I need it to create them.
All we need is some ink! Not too much to ask for, right? If I had a functioning printer in my classroom, I could help my students with so many aspects of daily life. I have the printer; it needs ink.
Help my students print their assignments and college or job applications. Help us get some ink. We will be truly thankful.
