Fitness bands or exercise tubes for students in Kindergarten through eighth grade to use in PE when the weather gets bad.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. H.'s classroom raised $338
This project is fully funded
PE teacher at a K8 school. This is the first year that I will get to service all the students during a PE rotation almost 800 in all.
California cut our school budget by 55-60%. The PE budget was eliminated. We are a new school but this hasn't helped get supplies for the students.
In California the weather is great... most of the time. So when it rains, it really rains. So PE outside will get the students wet, really wet (they don't change clothes for PE like they did in the past). So my solution is to use the gym for PE... problem is that our gym is also the cafeteria and about three other things... So I can use the gym... never. I have access to a small covered area and a good sized room. But you can't do sports or games in those places. So I thought that fitness bands (really big rubber bands) would be great. Students can do it almost anywhere and they will build muscles and kids will get a work-out without getting wet.
This request comes from a district that has been hit hard by the recession, California's "budget shortfall", and the ever decreasing support for education as a whole. This will help almost 800 student year after year. This isn't a one time thing.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
More than half of students from low‑income households
