Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are in our inaugural school year with a mission to open doors to successful college and career pathways for our students who come from diverse backgrounds, culturally and socioeconomically. It makes the classroom teeming with varied perspectives and respect for the differences each individual brings. Within the first few months of opening, the 6th grade classes have built something truly special.

We've built a community of innovators and future leaders.

Each day, the students engage in collaborative activities that play on the strengths of each student while simultaneously developing any areas of need. Don't be surprised if you visit our class and we're in the middle of a Socratic Seminar on whether life in Hoovervilles was a blessing or a curse. Maybe you might even catch us outside working on the community garden for our beautification project. Perhaps we're in the hallways modeling Coach Wooden's Pyramid of Success to fellow students in the primary grades. Whatever the case, we have a wonderful group of 6th graders who I'm proud to say are living up their personal best each day and deserve opportunities that fit their needs to grow further.
