Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We use art to start our ideas a lot! Because "Seeing is Believing"! The flag drawing, and other pencil sketches get our "Brain Drain" started so we can go write, understand a plot and more! In our class we 3rd graders know technology is cool to use for learning and teaching! As a teacher, I am working to provide my students with the tools to be "technical" in their work which means use of "pencil-paper" for planning & drafts. Ten, PowerPoints could be made for presentation! With inclusion practices for many of our special education programs such as dyslexia (screens help reversal of images!...see the flag!) we'd really make gains in kids of all talents and skill levels rising to their personal bests in an already cooperative & supportive learning environment that inspires us to do more, take risks, and best of all: really LEARN!
Every day we have the benefit of working in a clean, climate controlled classroom in a GREAT school where our instruction is made as interesting, catchy and fun as possible, but often we aren't ALL able to see the board, computer screen, or overhead projector clearly. With this obstacle, many of my students loose interest, allow their thoughts to wander or become distracted by more "eye-catching" scenes! I want that to change! I want to be the "eye-catcher", the "mind-catcher" and over-all interest grabber for my students by having the technical advantage of a "plug & play" LCD projector so ALL kids will be with me on this with class presentations by the teacher, students or other speakers.
By having a projector that will easily attach to my class computer, accept a USB storage device or memory card for immediate and appropriate display of media, web pages, or just a document created by word processing, my students would be involved in more targeted learning because of the enhanced attention the brain gives to that which is "interesting". A picture IS worth a thousand words, and this would display the imagery my students can process easily, eagerly and with the much greater chance of retention than older teaching methods prove to have as many of them work at merging English into their language skills while others work on better focus & attention on often mundane tasks by "seeing" the projection image rapidly and in detail for maximum retention and connections to other areas of work and learning strategies.
Your help will ensure that my students see, hear and speak and hence, REMEMBER their lessons in a way that is so much closer to what they LIKE and what really works when it comes to packing information in their amazing brains! My students will have the opportunity to learn with me how to best use this technology as I teach with computer graphic programs and I teach them to create them as well for their own study. Learning by DOING is what makes it real and that is FUN~! We ALL learn better when it's fun, effective and, well, just plain cool! Thanks in advance for your help on this project!
