My students need 30 copies of "Latin Fairy Tales" in order to help them to share with their expertise in reading Latin with their parents.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. W.'s classroom raised $470
This project is fully funded
I teach Latin in a low-income public high school in Virginia where 39% of the students receive free lunches. Many of my students have parents who are deployed in the military, and these parents often feel disconnected from what their students are doing in the classroom. Parents of Latin students especially feel at a loss to understand what their child is learning because they don’t understand Latin.
But there is a way for students to share with their parents overseas what they have learned. I propose to order a class set of the book “Fairy Tales in Latin” which my students can translate and then illustrate in such a way as to make the Latin intelligible for those people who don’t understand this language. These fairy tales are common stories that the parents would already know, such as “The Three Little Pigs” and “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”. Doing this would give them something specific to talk about concerning school work.
Your donation will enhance communication between high school students and their parents.
