What do I teach, you ask?
I teach Latin (as in Classical Latin) to 7th and 8th grade students with special needs in a high-needs school in New York. Yes, you read that correctly. My students are making history as they prepare for the New York State Second Language Proficiency Exam in Latin. (I'm pretty sure that they are the first students from a self-contained Special Education class to take this test! They are pumped, and so am I!)
My school, unfortunately, is really suffering from the New York State budget cuts. It's so bad that teachers have even had to buy their own copy paper for the last year!
My students are visual and audio learners, and the use of an LCD projector will enable me to tap into their multiple intelligences so that they can really reach their full potential in Latin.
Your help will make it possible for my students to make history in New York. Inner-city Latin scholars (nevermind inner-city middle-school Latin scholars with special needs) are incredibly hard to come by, and I know that, given the right resources, these ones will not disappoint.
