I teach 8th grade social studies. My school is in a community that has a very high poverty rate.
The majority of my students do not have access to technology outside of school. In social studies, I try to incorporate technology into my curriculum, which is a great motivator. Students love to use technology to act out scenes from our studies.
I am requesting a camcorder and the necessary accessories to use in the classroom. Students will be able to record each other participating in the skits that are done on a regular basis. Students are more likely to remember the content if they are allowed to act it out. The camcorder will allow them to increase their exposure to technology and see themselves acting in the skits.
Your help will greatly benefit my students because social studies will come to life in a fun and exciting way!
