Music Students Need Resources at Low Income School!
My students need rhythm stick activity books with CDs, music theory books, a dry erase board, recordable CDs, and blank transparencies.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. M.'s classroom raised $442
This project is fully funded
I teach music in South Chicago to Pre-K through 8th grade students who come from low-income families. I also teach to the deaf and autistic students at the school.
The trouble with teaching music at this school is first, having the resources to teach and second, finding things that the students enjoy doing. I found a common interest of all students through rhythm. In order to teach the students to use rhythm sticks, they need to know the theory behind it.
I need the resources necessary to teach my students music theory so they are able to play their rhythm sticks such as lessons, background CD's, worksheets, and transparencies (to name a few). I need these type of resources because I have a hard time keeping the attention of my students. They need an outlet to their troubled life and I really feel that music including rhythm, beats, songs, movement songs etc will benefit their life and help find something they are interested in.
By your donation you will help my students to find enjoyment in something so simple yet so powerful, music. I now when I am having a hard day and want to forget about the troubles of life, I listen to music or dance to a song. These students need something to take their minds off of the incredible stresses they have already, at such a young age. These kids experience too much hurt and pain in their life and I would like to simply bring a smile to their face, at least during the 40 minutes they are in my room!
