Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 7th grade Texas History. My school is located in a large urban district which as a large population of students that English is their second language.
Geography is an important aspect that can be overlooked. Many students do not realize that geography is not just pictures and words in a book but all around them. They do not realize when riding to a rural area that is a plains area they are seeing.
I need a few digital cameras to take the students outside the school to capture examples of geography in their world in order to enhance their vocabulary skills and improve their knowledge of geography.
Your support will do several things for my students. Most importantly make them more aware of their surroundings in a stimulating way to encourage achievement.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
