My students need math literature books, math related games, and math manipulatives.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. R.'s classroom raised $358
This project is fully funded
I am an 8th grade math teacher in a inner city school. I currently service approximately 70 students. Approximately 50% are performing at a basic or below basic in mathematics and reading.
My students struggle with the algebraic concept of balancing equations. Some students have expressed dislike and fear of mathematics. As a result I am always in search of new, interesting and innovative ways to teach mathematics.
The use of math literature books like Poems for Math Practice, Less Than Zero, The Number Devil, What's Your Angle, Pythagoras? and math games like dominoes and quizmo will provide an opportunity my students work with math concepts through the use of literature and math games. The use of an algebra balance kit will also help my students grasp the difficult concept of balancing equations.
You will be make possible for students who are struggling or fearful of mathematics to make connection to mathematics through literature, games, and manipulatives.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
