Educate Elementary Students - Movie Protect the Environment
My 11th grade students need a DVD Handycam to create a movie that will educate local elementary students about how to protect the environment.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. N.'s classroom raised $970

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The entire 11th grade class will be learning ways to help protect the environment both locally and globally. The end goal is for the students to create a documentary that will educate local elementary students about protecting the environment. Since our community has been devastated several times in the past decade due to fires, water conservation is a primary concern. Further, this is an interdisciplinary project and will meet standards in History, English, Media, and Science classes.
Last year these students designed public service announcements and learned the necessary media skills to create a professional product. Unfortunately the video cameras are for the 10th grade students only. Currently, we have only one working video camera for over a hundred 11th grade students. Building on these industry standard skills will not only help improve student learning, it will help our students give back to their local community by educating elementary students about the problems affecting the environment.
Our school budget is in a major crisis and getting basic supplies are difficult. Money simply is not available for video equipment and any help would be greatly appreciated. Having a video camera to create a documentary for elementary students will give our students a chance to make a difference in the lives of others while educating themselves on the importance of teamwork.
Thank you so much for considering my request. Your help will truly make a difference in the lives of my students and future students. This assignment is bigger than the typical classroom task and I hope they will recognize what a wonderful contribution it is to educate others.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
