My students need 23 sketch books to participate in nature walks within the school's neighborhood.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. G.'s classroom raised $150
This project is fully funded
We spend way too much time inside the classroom and not outside exploring our natural world. I teach in a 4th grade collaborative team teaching classroom with general and special education students.
We're in New York City - surrounded by steel structures and little sun. When we spend a little time outside making observations for science or writing workshop, the kids always wish for more time. We included some sketching this year and they couldn't get enough!
We have our writer's notebook that we shared with the students and this year, we decided to start our own nature journals. The kids were excited and asked if they could start one. Not everyone can afford one that is built to last the walking trips.
Motivation is key! When students receive free classroom gifts, they can't wait to use them. A nature journal will use all their skills in a fun way. Plus, it will keep them interested in environmental issues where they can make a difference.
