Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Teaching mathematics in an inner-city middle school is an ever present challenge that I gladly take upon everyday. My students constantly awaken their inner fervor for the subject as I use various technologically advanced strategies to guide them.
Students usually learn statistics from books and pre-gathered data. This project will take inner city intervention mathematics students to the next level.
Practical applications of math re-kindle lost fervor in math. By surveying local universities and physically gathering data, students become motivated and interested in a statistical process. Ownership of such a project propels their learning to accentuate the concept and process rather than just answers to questions.
Calculators are a vehicle in which students become statisticians in finding the link between colleges and achievement. In all actuality an underlining project will be sorting information of universities and figuring out which is a better fit for students.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
