Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a technology based school in the South Bronx. We serve mostly low-income students grades 6-12. I currently teach 8th grade social studies.
I would like for my students to have the opportunity to create their own historical documentaries on events from the Cold War. The students need access to a camcorder to complete the assignment. This assignment is great for students who may not be the strongest readers or writers, but enjoy using technology and are comfortable with computers. We have lots of access to laptops but no access to a camcorder.
I see this an opportunity for my students to use some of the most cutting edge software and create their own movie on a historical topic. My students love having video and photos taken of themselves, this is a way to put them behind the camera.
Lights, camera, action!!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
