Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have recently realized that I am boring. Like an old house that needs a renovation, I need some inspirational activities for my kids. My school is in a high-poverty area and we serve a large number of special needs children. This is my 14th year of teaching and I need a inspiration injection.
As much as I would love to do many hands-on activities with my middle school French and Spanish students, my school just does not have the funds to help me with supplies and encouragers. We do not get donations from our community because of the high poverty rate.
I want my students to realize their potential and break the cycle of poverty. I want them to look beyond our small town and have the desire to travel to other countries to use the French and Spanish that I have taught them. I want better for them! I am requesting the incentives, rewards, and new activity books to inspire them and help them dream big! If I can catch their attention now, by providing the internet activities that will take them beyond the classroom, and the tangible rewards for thinking outside of our community, these children can go so far.
By funding my proposal, you will be helping me give the students a world view, encourage them to do their best, to learn about cultures outside the US and help me with a classroom "Not So Extreme Makeover".
