CCCS will take 28 students on an extended field trip opportunity. We will to travel to Yosemite Valley, September 29 – October 2, 2019, where they will join NatureBridge for a 4 day academic adventure. They will pursue an in-depth, cross-curricular investigation into the history of our national parks, their creation, conservation, and their role in preserving our environment as wells as receiving hands on, lab quality earth and life science lessons, which address the lack of lab access in our independent study model, on topics such as ecology, watershed management, geology and climate change. Finally, my students will participate in team-building and self-discovery experiences in the most amazing natural setting. This field trip will introduce our students to the bounty and beauty of nature in a way many have not had the chance to experience Students will attend pre-trip seminars which introduce them to the vocabulary, concepts and scientific methods they will explore during the ecology, geology, and watershed lessons provided by NatureBridge. The issue of balancing the needs of nature, sustainability, pollution, drought and our growing population will be our focus. Participants will be 9th -12th grade students who are enrolled in or have completed, earth or life science so as to maximize their connections to our science curriculum. Your support will cover the tuition for 5 of our students to attend this amazing outdoor school.
