District Partner
Overton Independent School District is located in rural eastern Texas surrounded by pine forests and rolling hills. The district is geographically limited (22 square miles) and approximately 70% of the students are in the free or reduced lunch program.

Overton ISD prides itself on the family atmosphere created by caring and talented teachers and staff. The district has adopted the social-emotional learning program “Choose Love” and strives to exhibit respect, love, and resilience every day.

The district seeks to provide opportunities for students in generational poverty to expand their horizons through technology and experiences. The district has joined with 4 other small, rural school districts to create a career and technology/dual credit program located in the city of Overton. This unique opportunity has provided students with the chance to earn college credits and prepare for a career that will enable them to have a successful, productive life upon graduation. OISD students are able to take college courses at no cost as the district has committed to paying all tuition, fees, and books for students enrolled in these approved courses at the CTE Center. Students are enrolled in courses in pharmacy tech, certified nurse’s assistant, building trades and engineering along with traditional dual credit classes in English, History, etc.

OISD continues the tradition of academic success along with opportunities in music, drama, athletics, robotics, and agricultural science in a small school setting.
