I would like to immerse my students in different art forms, as well as art from many cultures. One such art form are alebrijes, which are brightly colored Mexican folk art sculptures of fantastical creatures. Some of the basics to form the sculpture will be cardboard, paper, and masking tape, but will then use the plaster strips to hold their forms together. This is just one example of how the materials will enable my students to learn and create different art forms. With these new art supplies, my students will be able to learn about multicultural art forms, and create their own three dimensional art emulating it.
