I am a young, single woman teaching Kindergarten for Los Angeles Unified School District. During my off time from the traditional school year I enjoy mentoring, a way of rewarding students that have worked hard all year and may not have the best home life. For example, we go to waterparks, beaches, baseball games, football games, museums, bowling etc. A day like this makes a huge impact on a child that someone is really taking an interest in their life! I have been teaching six years at the same grade level, and I love what I do! Like most teachers I have always strived to provide my students with the best education possible. Each year this requires spending 100's of dollars out of my own pocket. I do this with out hesitation, but should'nt there be another way???? Plastic sleeves, or paper protectors, for my students and three ring binders with pockets, for every student makes a wonderful Reading Anthology Book. This is a collection of songs, poems, and chants students learn thru out the year and take home each week to share with their families. At the end of the year students that may no have any other books at home have this wonderful collection to keep at home that they have illustrated themselves, that they can now read at any given time and always remember what we learned in Kindergarten! These books easily can be up to 50 pages or more, and the binders often cost $1.75 each times the total number of students I have. hide
