About Ector County Independent School District

Established in 1921, The Ector County Independent School District (ECISD) is the primary provider of public education for Ector County, Texas. Ector County is located midway between Ft. Worth and El Paso, Texas. The county has approximately 166,000 residents, spanning 900 square miles including the Cities of Odessa and Goldsmith, along with the unincorporated areas of Gardendale, Penwell, NoTrees, Pleasant Farms and West Odessa. Ethnically, the district is 82% Latinx, 13% Anglo, 3% African American and 2% Other. The district serves over 33,000 students: 73% of whom live in poverty; 65% who are at risk for school failure; and 27% who are non-English speaking. ECISD is focused on excellence and recent improvements in district outcomes include kindergarten readiness rates, graduation rates and College, Career and Military readiness rates.
