Walk Across America

My project needs 180 pedometers that tracks steps taken as well as distance in miles.

I currently teach second grade and I am trying to implement a fitness and nutrition program at my school. This fitness and nutrition program will help children learn how to read labels on the foods they eat, make healhty food choices,and exercise effectively. I plan to have a "healthy" competition betweeen the second and fourth grades at my school as to who can "walk across America" first. We plan to pick interesting cities across the United States that we would like to visit and see which class can walk there faster. To be able to track our steps and distance we will need 180 pedometers, one for each student in the second and fourth grade. I feel it is so important to teach our students about the importance of eating right and exercising. By making this a fun and exciting challenge, hopefully, they will continue to practice good health habits in the future.
