My Project

Musical theater is more than what happens on the stage in front of the audience. There is an entire performance behind the scenes. My students learn about circuits, sound mixing, and music technology. My students will work hands-on with professional equipment to provide light and sound for the spring musical.

This is a true STEAM project, as students will incorporate technology, engineering, math and the arts to create magic on stage.

This project requests Sennheiser Wireless Microphones that students will use for rehearsals. Students will use the professional tablets and speakers to control sound. They will be able to experiment with sound mixing (using the mixer) and volume control through trial and error and basic sound engineering education. Students will be responsible for connecting the sound and speakers. Students will learn the science of circuits and use the mic cords and drops to ensure that the equipment is ready for use. Sound engineering is an exciting profession and I hope this glimpse will inspire their creativity. This project also includes consumables such as batteries and mic tape to power equipment to use during both rehearsals and the final performance. This project combines theater, science, math and art.
