This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One of my goals as a teacher is to bring reading books back to life! Our new student generation is so attached to technology that it has dropped its love for books. Creating a space in the classroom that feels cozy and enticing is essential to reaching my goal. This reading corner would have all types of seating areas and a fancy canopy to allure students to sit and read in our space. I know I am guilty of feeling different in a cafe setting. This idea of creating a cafe reading corner has the same objectives. One is to give my students a feeling of being in a space other than a classroom. Secondly, to foster a culture of reading. I know that with your help, my students will enjoy this space and also become reading lovers.

Reading helps students learn new words, skills, and subjects, expand their knowledge, and teach crucial social skills.

So, having this corner can foster a love for reading, provide our own space to disconnect from our classroom setting, and allow us to enter a world of exploration. In the community that my students live in, they have very few opportunities to do things like reading books in a cafe or having a beautiful community library to hang out in.
