My Students

Though at times it may seem the odds are against them, these students are the shining stars of the future. Help them become the brightest stars in the dark night sky!

My 4th grade students attend a rural elementary school located in a high poverty area in Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Our school is a Title 1 school and many of our students receive free and reduced lunch. Despite all of the challenges these students face, it is our job as educators to send them off into their futures as prepared as possible - these kids deserve every opportunity!

My Project

In today's technological society, where a cell phone can double as a computer - imagine living in a home without a computer. Despite this obstacle, my students remain very technologically motivated. They will try any learning activity - as long as it involves a computer! Unfortunately computers available to us often don't work properly, or students must compete for the use of the few that do. Help my students in the writing process to become better, more proficient and published authors. With a laptop at the publishing stage of our writing centers, students can practice important computing skills needed for most common day jobs, they can add graphics to their written works, and they can receive important spelling and grammar feedback instantly! My students often grumble about the lengthy writing process and often don't give their best effort. With a laptop as a motivator in the final stage of writing, all students will want to publish!

The ability to write, and to write well is a challenge.

Help me motivate and create students who are up to this challenge. Help me create an entire classroom of future award winning authors! When they become famous - they'll promise you a signed copy of their best seller!
