My Students

As a first year teacher, I don't think I could have asked for better students. My students care for not only their education, but also each other. They build each other up and include everyone in their learning experiences. I'm honored to be their teacher and to guide them through the world of music education.

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and turn my classroom into a true melting pot of cultures, ideas and interests.

Together my students display daily acts of creativity, bravery and brilliance.

My Project

At the beginning of the school year I asked my students what they wanted to learn this year in music, and a majority of them said "to play an instrument." This project will allow students to utilize ukuleles as performers, composers, songwriters and producers. Students can learn to play a variety of styles, songs and genres on ukuleles that they can connect and relate to. The addition of these instruments to our classroom would open so many doors for students to engage in general music.

Learning to play an instrument allows the students to grow both as musicians and people.

As a middle school general music teacher I aim to create a curriculum students can relate to that makes them lifelong lovers of music. After they leave this school there's no guarantee they will have access to playing instruments again. These ukuleles will help my students build confidence in their musicianship and allow their creativity to shine.
