Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are learning how they can apply the engineering design process to solve real-world problems. I want my students to harness the power of the engineering design process to create meaningful change that betters their lives, communities, and the world.
My students are compassionate dreamers eager and capable of making a difference in the world - they just need some tools.
They frequently have brilliant and innovative ideas to solve important problems but lack the resources to actually build, test, and see their solutions come to life. With more resources, my students will be empowered to see that they can, and are, changing the world.
My Project
Students will use materials such as Arduino, Hall Effect sensors, accelerometers, and other circuit components to better understand physics and the power of circuitry and the engineering design process.
In this project, students will identify a biomedical problem, devise a solution, and then build, prototype, calibrate, and test a device that can address the biomedical problem.
Once students get their device working and calibrated to ensure accuracy and precision, they will figure out how to make their device communicate with other devices, such as a laptop, cell phone, tablet, or smart wearable. Finally, students will develop an idea for how their device could be used to solve a real-world problem and devise a plan for implementation and sales.
