My students need a recorder to record interviews for newspaper, and a printer to have materials ready for class. A background stand and a backdrop would enhance the photography and newspaper class, for interviews and headshots.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I know that every teacher says they have special kids and that their kids are full of potential. And, I have no doubt that is true, but these kids really are so optimistic about their lives and futures, despite their often less than ideal situations. They want to work, and they work hard.
These kids see things through a different lens.
They have been in low places, seen things they shouldn't, and felt hurt and happiness in a totally different way than most other teens. They work because they have to, and they work hard because they want to be great. The potential in these kids is unprecedented because they truly want it. They all come in with a huge desire to be successful and they will work for it 1000 times harder than anyone else, with smiles on their faces.
My Project
Though I have applied for grants, and spoken numerous times with the school board, we have set to receive the materials we need for the class. If we have these few items, we'd be on our way to establishing a great class where our youth learn about how to create an amazing image or how to make an amazing newspaper. With a recorder, our students could be more efficient during interviews, to avoid having to write all the notes. The backdrop will allow students to take headshots and interviews within the classroom and look professional.
The kids have worked so hard for this, the best gift I can give them is the gift of resources.
