This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are part of a rural, Title I school district with 100% receiving free lunch and breakfast. Over the past couple years we have participated in the FIRST LEGO League. Now many of our students have aged out of that program, and our school district does not have any FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams for them to move on to.

This year I want to take these students to the next level and participate in the FTC where they will further enhance their skills and be eligible for FIRST scholarships, inspiring some students to become the first in their family to attend college.

This is an opportunity to continue to integrate STEM into their lives, show them potential careers, and give our community pride in the youth who represent them.

My Project

Having these kits will enable my former FIRST LEGO League students to take their game to the next level and compete in the FIRST Tech Challenge with a real, functioning robot. It will develop their programming skills, improve their problem solving skills and give them a more advanced understanding of engineering as they build, test, and launch their robot into a new type of competition.

Your donation will help inspire a group of students to explore their interests in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, all while teaching them the importance of working together and helping others.

The kits include motors, wiring, controllers, and building materials which are standard for the FIRST Tech Challenge.
