Experiencing the MAGIC behind The Ron Clark Academy!
I need to be inspired by The Ron Clark Academy master educators and students to continue to up my game to design a classroom environment that celebrates each student by showing them that they MATTER!
When you walk into my classroom you better be ready for high energy, enthusiasm, and 90 minutes of non-stop smiling. Each day, each class period, I teach in a way that allows students to create, innovate, communicate, and collaborate through STEM & inquiry-based projects, cooperative learning and laboratory activities. I provide each student with the opportunity to excel based on his or her interests, all while incorporating leadership roles through implementation of the practices in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. In my classroom, we build cooperative relationships and nurture responsibility, kindness, and good judgment.
I like to say my classroom is something you can’t explain.
My classroom must be experienced with a vivid imagination and a sense of excitement for science every time the door opens. I love to bring the learning experience to my students by doing multiple classroom transformations that leave an everlasting impression. I love to tap into my superpower to incorporate their interests to add excellence and authenticity to each lesson.
In turn, students bring their A-game by becoming engrossed in the alternative “world” and really go beyond their comfort zone of learning because they see me going beyond mine!
My Project
If it wasn’t evident yet, I am so proud to be a teacher. This is a profession unlike any other in that it’s constantly evolving, allows creativity to engage even the lowest quartile students, the opportunity to reflect on instruction and for all teachers to improve their instruction year after year. As a fairly new teacher myself, I find that observing classrooms where the best practices are in place to engage learners allows me to reflect and gather specific strategies to take back to the classroom to imminent the very next day! This can be done through directly observing academic based games or activities such as rigorous labs, escape rooms, and bringing into the classroom music and a whole lot of smiles while still maintaining positive student- teacher relationships, and high standards for classroom behavior.
I know as educators we have to look deep within ourselves and recognize that not only does the world need great teachers, role models, and the willingness to give selflessly, but we have to play the role of inspirer, cheerleader, coach, and friend.
I love that these are all the great values that the Ron Clark Academy is based upon. Learning from the best of the best will allow me to continue to be inspired in that I get to teach and play these roles each day! I love being a teacher.
This project will cover the cost of registration and lodging so I can attend a training session at the Ron Clark Academy. This training will allow me to observe master teachers, attend workshops, and experience school culture, rigor, and student engagement that will be brought back to my home school to inspire a positive school culture!
