JV Heat is a competitive dance team, which is an extracurricular activity at our school. We have 22 members all from different cultural and economic backgrounds. Many members have difficulty acquiring the necessary shoes, costumes and competition fees necessary to be a part of this team. The members of this team are talented and highly motivated, as most wouldn't be able to have an experience like this in the private sector. The team is a huge source of school spirit and excitement at MSA, and our members work hard each day to be great ambassadors of school spirit.
My Project
The JV Heat dance team is working hard training to compete at their very first dance team competition! There are many fees and costs associated with this and many of our dancer's families are underprivileged. Our families had to evacuate during Hurricane Irma and this has added a financial strain on them. Our school year has been severely disrupted, but having new shoes to get right back into performing will make our spirits soar!
We need hip hop shoes for their competition performance, and these shoes are costly and a big part of our costume budget.
Many of our students will work hard training all season, yet be unable to participate in the performance due to lack of funds for things like costumes and entry fees.
