This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 600 kids physical education daily. In our school, we serve pre-K through 5th grade students in a low socio-economical area. Our school is a Title I school and our entire school population receives free lunch and breakfast daily.
My students are full of life and energy.
They love to be outside and are eager to learn new sports. Currently, we are wanting to learn how to rock climb. My students have a strong desire to learn to rock climb but lack the equipment to participate.
My Project
My students need a 4 x 10 rock climbing wall to place in our gym. This rock climbing wall will be used by every student at our school. Rock climbing will build our students' confidence, promote their self esteem, and teach them that overcoming fear is a healthy part of life.
This rock climbing wall will also help the students to develop problem solving skills as they climb their way up the wall.
Climbing the wall is like a real-life puzzle they will have to solve. This rock wall will also allow the children to rise to a challenge, while they are pulling, lifting, twisting, and stretching to reach the top.
