Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach fourth grade in a high need neighborhood, my students love the independence of literacy workstations. Many of my students are reading below reading level. They love listening to books on tape or CD.

The listening workstation allows small student groups to listen to a book and respond to questions. The listening center is a great way to expose my lower readers to selections they can not read on their own. These books will really help me differentiate my reading instruction. My listening center is low on material. We have only a few selections that we seem to go through quickly. This workstation desperately needs a supply of new material.

I have selected a variety of books on CD that I am sure my students will just love. There are several historical selections that can be incorporated with my Social Studies lessons. The literature selections will enhance the reading skills of my students while they enjoy a great story.

With your help, we can foster a love of reading. My students want very much to enjoy books and buddy read with their classmates. The additional selections will expose students to reading material they may otherwise have missed.
