This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are one of a kind. Many of them come from difficult home lives; however, they rise above their circumstances. My students understand the importance of professionalism, determination and being goal-oriented. One way they are sidetracked is by their economic circumstances. As a lower-income district, our students get free lunches daily as part of a state program for schools financially in need.
My students showed poise, grace, and class when they were featured on a local news station.
They showed an extreme level of maturity while being interviewed by the reporter. As video and broadcast students, they are working at social and professional levels beyond their years. I have never been so proud to be an educator.
My Project
The Canon AX10 and equipment would ensure that my students get to stay enrolled in their current video productions class. It would mean the difference of students in grades nine through twelve being able to take video productions or not. Our video productions class is based around the use of cameras. Without them, the class potentially would be canceled by our school's administration.
The AX10 camcorder will be used to shoot video for video projects edited into packages by the students.
Our current cameras are barely working and there is no budget to replace them. With your donation, our students will get the opportunity to continue taking a class that they love and have a new tripod, case and memory card. Also, with the acquisition of the camera and equipment, students wanting to work with video, photography, and film will get the chance to get hands-on experience.
