Professional development

Exploring Computer Science in NYC

I need to attend this professional development so that I may continue to teach computer science to our 8th grade technology classes. <infosys2016>

My Students

My students are Grade 8 students in a public school in New York City. We have started the process of learning coding and computer science, and would like to take it to the next level for next school year.

My students are Grade 8 public school students in New York City.

They are from diverse backgrounds and cultures. They are very interested in coding as we began this topic this year utilizing The Hour of Code and StarLogoNova. We are hoping to expand our knowledge of computer science next school year through this professional development.

My Project

The resources that I am requesting include the cost of attending the 5-day professional development in New York City during August, as well as the teacher stipend for attending this professional development. The professional development will continue during several Saturday sessions during the school year, as well as continuing education during the summer of 2017.

The funding of this project will allow me to instruct my students on more advanced topics in computer science.

This year my learning has allowed me to give my students an introductory course in computer science and coding. I'm hoping to give these students so much more next school year!
