Our community’s fight to keep kids learning during COVID-19
The nation’s most vulnerable students also face the greatest obstacles to learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As schools begin to re-open, here’s how we’re innovating to serve teachers’ needs wherever learning is happening.
Rising to the Challenge
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve made it easier and safer for our donors and partners to support teachers.
“This support means the world to me. The pandemic has changed a lot of the routines our students are accustomed to, and being able to share materials with your lab partner is one of them. Because of DonorsChoose, my students are able to keep each other safe, and properly social distance themselves while completing science labs.”
Mrs. Rodriguez, a teacher from Houston, Texas
Despite the pandemic, our donors haven’t stopped supporting teachers.
Since March 2020, we’ve seen:
Half way through this unique school year, we asked 1,100 teachers about how they’ve adapted to the “new normal” of teaching. Four-out-of-five teachers are still spending some portion of their time teaching remotely, and one-in-three teachers is fully remote.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
