Thank you for your interest in Journaling and Mental Health Support for Teens’ Well-Being! Our interactive lesson helps students discover mental health resources and learn the benefits of journaling. When you lead this lesson, your class will explore valuable mental health support options and practice journaling as a tool for emotional wellbeing.

This engaging 20-minute lesson plan includes two short videos about mental health resources and a guided journaling exercise. To make it easy to use in class, we provide videos, a printable teacher worksheet, and a printable student worksheet to be passed around in class.

Teach your class about journaling and mental health support resources, then provide feedback in a survey, and you’ll receive $400 DonorsChoose credit. Child Mind Institute will use all feedback to improve our product offerings and educational materials for future classes.

To be eligible for this reward, you need to:

  1. Teach 9th, 10th, 11th, and/or 12th grade in California.
  2. Have a printer and A/V equipment. Be able to print worksheets in advance for each student, and have a way to show videos with audio to the class.
  3. Conduct a pre-lesson poll. Students will answer questions to assess their current knowledge of mental health resources and support services.
  4. Show videos about journaling and mental health resources to your class. Students will watch two engaging videos that explain mental health support services and demonstrate how journaling can improve emotional wellbeing.
  5. Lead a journaling exercise in class. Guide students through reflective writing prompts designed to explore emotions and develop self-awareness skills.
  6. Conduct a post-lesson poll. Students will complete a brief survey to show what they've learned about mental health resources and journaling techniques.
  7. Tell us how it went by completing a feedback form. Your responses will be shared with the Child Mind Institute.
