My students will be coming to our classroom carpet several times a day for various types of instructions. Students will be able to choose when they want to work at their seats or come to the carpet for reading, responding to literature with a buddy, or working on other literacy based activities with peer collaboration. Imagine if my students are able to sit on the carpet comfortably while being engaged in authentic book talk or converse with a pal about a writing idea. I know the expressions on their faces will be priceless. After many years of being Reading Recovery & ESL Support teacher, I am returning to being a classroom teacher and with a limited start-up budget at my new school, I would be honored to be awarded with funds to help me set up my own classroom.
