My students sing the ABC song at lunch. They draw pictures of sharks, Spidermans and mommies. They love tasting apples, doing banana dances and listening to stories about dinosaurs. And even though the windows in my classroom are welded shut to prevent theft, even though there's an exposed pipe outside my classroom that periodically leaks on us as we walk in and out of the room and even through some of my students families cannot afford basic school supplies, my students are still the most bright-eyed and bushy tailed students I could ever ask for. We talk about growing up to Kindergarten everyday and the eyes of these four year olds light up.
