My students want to be able to read and write at grade level and without adult support. This is something that they have always dreamed of being able to do, while their peers are already able to do this. Because my students have learning disabilities, being able to independently read and write is currently something that they are not able to do. Being able to have the technology (iPad) to independently interact with reading and writing programs will help them to build their foundational skills. An Apple (iPad) today, will help my students get their reading underway by being able to practice their reading fluency and comprehension. Being able to use iPad Apps, such as Zearn, ABC Pocket Phonics, and Rocket Speller, will help my students to independently practice their foundational reading and writing skills, while I am able to work with my other students in a small group directly teaching them how to read and improve their writing.
