Due to the English language barrier, students often learn at a slower pace and may have a difficult time understanding academic content. As a result, we often spend a lot of time working together in small groups in order to create a better interacting and learning environment. Currently there are big square tables in the classroom for us to work together; however, these tables are not ideal for small group activities as I am unable to reach out to my students individually. An alternative solution is having students sit on the floor, but it might be very distracting and uncomfortable for them. In addition, we currently don’t have enough small group supplies to keep instructional materials organized.
A kidney table and additional small group supplies would enhance my students’ learning experience.
Students would be able to sit together comfortably at a table where I can reach to them easily to meet their different needs. I would be able to work with my students more effectively and help them stay more focused on instructions. They would concentrate more as I can pay close attention to them. In addition to a new table, having small group supplies would be a tremendous help in keeping materials more organized. Things like teaching easel, paper trays, book bins, re-useable write & wipe pockets are definitely helpful and I would love to provide the best for my students.
