Many students at the school where I teach cannot afford home technology devices. Additionally, since many students are transients, there stay is so short lived that at home technology doesn't exist ever for them. While I know we cannot send every student home with a device, we can provide them with opportunities to learn within the school day. Often times, foreign language acquisition is reserved for only those that have the means to travel abroad or attend a chartered or private school that provides full immersion. Having Ipads in class provide opportunities for students a more immersed type experience since more online resources are being developed that provide a virtual study abroad type journey. I would like to see students of all income levels feel what it is like to visit a Spanish speaking country; even if it is done virtually. This way, I can reach the masses rather than just the few.
