Our school recently adopted the Conscious Discipline method for our Social Emotional Curriculum. We believe that regardless of students' backgrounds, environments, and ACES, they deserve the chance to shine academically, socially, and physically. To foster this belief, I would like to implement a 'safe space' for my students to go when they need to regulate their emotions. Having a safe space in the classroom will allow students to work through their emotions, solve problems, and learn how to handle the stress that we all face every day. Having a comfortable place to sit, developmentally appropriate books to read, and calming sensory toys will allow my students the down time they need to be emotionally ready to learn and grow. Thank you so much for supporting my school in our goal to teach the whole child!
