Students will begin using the MEAD Primary Journals the very first day of school. My students arrive in 1st Grade with a wide variety of writing skills so some will write and illustrate a story about their exciting first day of school while others will tell their stories with colorfully detailed pictures. The journals will become a culmination of students’ writings throughout the entire year. It becomes a wonderful collection of stories revealing students’ interests and writing growth.
Today’s headline is “Write All About It!” The Jumbo Picture Story Newsprint is a new resource to me, but I can already visualize my students’ awesome stories and illustrations on the story newsprint for display in our hallway. My students beam with pride when their classroom collection of work is displayed in the school hallway to share with other students and visitors to our campus. The jumbo paper format will allow their imaginations to flow with plenty of space to capture their marvelous thoughts on paper already lined for those developing fine motor skills.
The Blank Softcover Books are a great resource for my students when they begin authoring their own original books in the classroom. They are also used if we need individual sketch books for an outdoor assignment, particularly in Science. Students can use the softcover books for journals, too
