These products will help our 5th graders take their first Science State Assessment. Specifically, the standards that will be taught are Matter and Energy in Organisms and Ecosystems with emphasis on using models to describe that energy in animals' food (used for body repair, growth, motion, and to maintain body warmth) was once energy from the sun, as well as developing a model to describe the movement of matter among plants, animals, decomposers, and the environment. This lab will also be carried into math with a focus on the 5th grade standard of making a data display (line plot, bar graph, pictograph) to show a data set. They will create a categorical line plot about the types of bones found in their own owl pellet.
