The materials I am requesting will be used for Kindergarten through 4th grade. All grades participate in read-alouds, book talks, and a school-wide vote at the end of the year for a favorite book! My 4th graders will spend time with me in the library learning about 40+ books they can read throughout the school year. I show book trailers, book talk with them, read to them and even read some of the books myself. We have to read 3 of our choice from the list and at the end of the year, students vote on their favorite. I also do a Battle of the Books competition, with the listed books, between three schools in the district for students who wish to participate. All students K-4 will have 10 picture books read aloud during library class. I will also have literacy lessons that pertain to each book utilizing other resources and technology to help every child really enjoy the impact reading has.
