My students need eight copies of each book, I am Malala: How One Girl Stood Up for Education and Changed the World, Summer of the Mariposas and Brown Girl Dreaming, for Literature Circles, with the exception of two Spanish versions of Esperanza Rising. Spanish copies are quite pricey, usually between $20-$30 but they are so critical! This year, Room 19 is going to become home to a group of enthusiastic readers that dive into meaningful and multicultural texts! This will be accomplished through Literature Circles--small groups with similar interests and reading lists! Of course, we can not do this alone! This is the list of books (and quantities) that we will need. Whatever you can donate will help us start out Literature Circles with everything we need. We are looking forward to what's next for our classroom: taking the percentage of our students that read three or more grade levels behind from 54% to 0%!
