My students are mostly second language learners and/or students with special needs. They are the students that need more support and small group instruction to support them in learning to read. Our school just won a Family Friendly award and we are always looking for ways to support our students and their families. When we send books home with students it is more than cherished. Home visits are done frequently by teachers and administrators and we are well aware of the data which correlates home libraries to success in schools. When we create bags and share books with students they are so excited and proud. Rarely have our students lost or mishandled books. It is our goal to have all students be able to list many favorite authors whose books they have loved and held.
