Feelings are part of our everyday life. I have found that the children in my care need help with learning how to deal with their feelings. The students go to the feelings jar everyday and place their stick in a cup to tell me how they are feeling. One day I had a little girl to ask me, "Mrs. Locklear what happens if you come one day and you don't have any feelings?' It made me stop and think. I wondered how does it feel not to feel at all; is that even possible? I would like to help our students to be better citizens as they grow. If I can help teach them what feelings are and how to deal with those feelings then we will live in a better world. Teaching children technology is great; that includes them learning their abc's and 1, 2, 3's, but it will not help them handle getting angry at the teacher for telling them to work harder or help them when little friends tell them that they are not their friends.
